Default TF2: The Spy vs. Sniper Update & Free Weekend (PC)

The Spy and the Sniper classes for Team Fortress 2 are now getting both of their weapon(s)/item(s) unlocks/achievements, and it gives a chance for people who have yet to try TF2 another opportunity to do so. Tomorrow the update goes live and this has to be one of the biggest class updates as of yet.

Most of the Unlocks have been revealed: Starting with the Hutsmen (Day 1) all the way to the Jarate (Day 7). Navigate the pages via the top right arrows. Also note that new head gear will be received for each of the classes (their purely cosmetic for now) and will probably be out with the update. Furthermore the TF2 team wants to decouple the achievements for the unlock system, they currently have in place.

To take a hold of the free weekend you need to download the steam client in which then you will be able to pre-load TF2 today (before tomorrows festivities).

I will continue to fill in information on this post, once the update goes live. So if there are any changes, I will mark them here.

SPYYYYYYYY UPDAAAAAATE.

Maybe I'll play when it's released. Between school, friends, and UFC Undisputed, I don't know where I'll be able to fit this in.

skill in pubs? yur a silly btard.

I'd usually play Med or Heavy, but it's plain to see why it's going to be a pain in the ass playing either for awhile. Once I achieve farm them unlocks I'll prolly go back to my Arena server.

I've gotten pretty tired of the Dustbowl/Payload set-up and imbalance. I'm HUGE on arenas now, with the occassional cp and ctf.

But yeah, once you get into it (which is easy), it's hard to put back down.

The new way to unlocking weapons is kind of retarded, though.

I got TF2 when I bought Orange Box for my 360, played it, and it was fun, but...well, I wouldn't have bought it for my 360 if it hadn't come with Episode 2 and Portal. TF2 was like the bonus to me, while most people I know considered Portal the bonus.

Basically I'm asking for somebody to convince me why it's so much better on PC that I should spend money on a game I already own on another console. Oh, and I won't be on much this weekend so probably can't try it free.

Gotta love Valve though, they'll stir up conspiricies themselves then make them come true. Any of you guys see that ambassador letter?

If you actually sent off the coupon from the first spy update (the watches) they sent you a fake "sorry we're out of stock" letter. This was the first place they mentioned the existance of the Ambassador...

The PC version has a lot more content, more weapons, more acheivements and generally better structured. Don;t forget tags and mods. Also cutom mpas.

Think thats about it.

EDIT: Also its cheap as hell this weekend.

It’s $9.99 on Steam, just for this weekend. So to me it’s a pretty good buy if you do like it.

Hey, I found some of the new hats that have yet to be implemented yet into the game.

Also what does everyone think of the new unlock system so far? Robin Walker said they will latter go in detail about this new unlock system, and how it works on the official blog latter on.

I have yet to pick this up even though I have the other two unlocks, and I was playing TF2 most of the night (3 a.m. to be exact).

TBH I prefered the old unlock system, but if like they said the droprate isn't as high as it should be when they fix it, it shouldn't be so bad.
